Little Miracles Day Care is a private home childcare. It is run by myself and with the regular assistance of my mother and neighbour. Our focus is on an Eco-friendly, family setting. Our family has two boys, ages two and a half and five and half and one cat. We are located close to a pond and wild life area, large zoo, walking trails and parks. The program includes a variety of developmental interests including art, dramatic play, music, and story time, outside play, crafts, structured rhymes, songs and domestic skills. The program offers concrete, multi-sensory and hands on experiences. A strong focus has been placed on maintaining a simplified open ended play environment. Our program incorporates Waldorf and Montessori education styles and philosophy. The classroom space includes natural play materials such as wood and cloths, lots of light, open space and child size furniture, greenery, art and textiles. Creativity, independence and security are encouraged. Strategies are implemented to recognise the needs of young children in helping to guide their curiosity. It is believed that children need to be loved and valued for who they are. Their feelings, needs and interests are respected and always taken into consideration. The program is non-competitive and children are respected for individuality . The program takes a focus on business with professionalism and respect of others. The program believes in promoting a child’s emotional, cognitive, physical and social development as the children are viewed as whole individuals.
